Wilhelm Beuermann
1937 Berlin - 2006 Hannover
Beuermann was a German painter, graphic artist and poet. He studied graphics at the Hannover School of Art, deepened his studies at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the Atelier J. Friedländer and at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Bachmann and Prof. Gonda. He received a grant from the Institut Français, an invitation to the Villa Massimo in Rome and was a founding member of the group PlasMa. In 1970 he became a member of the German Association of Artists.
From 1971 he lived and worked with the graphic artist and draftswoman Rosemarie Würth – they married in 1963 – for several months in his studio over the following decades, first in Liguria and later in Sardinia.
"Den Ausgangspunkt meiner Bilder finde ich im Sichtbaren meines jeweiligen Wohnortes und Ateliers. Fotos und Skizzen vor Ort sind Dokumente vom Fundort, von Gegenständen, Konstellationen und Stimmungen, Plätze, Straßen, in Innenräumen und in jeder Form von Landschaft. Mit dem Beginn des Malprozesses im Farbentwurf auf Papier bis hin zum Leinwandbild wandelt sich das Sujet in mehr oder weniger nachvollziehbaren Schritten. Reduktion und Addition wechseln sich ab, stellen Formen und Farben mehr und mehr in den Kontext des Bildszenariums und wandeln sie zum Zeichen, das sich vom Vorbild und reinen Abbild entfernt." At the beginning of the 1980s, the poetic form of expression in diary and poetry became increasingly important for Beuermann.
Ein Bild ist zurück –
lehnt auf dem Flur,
schaut mich und die Neuen
abschätzig an.
Das waren noch Zeiten –
bist älter geworden –
bei meiner Geburt
dieselben Tinkturen,
atmen die Fenster
das brackige Licht.
