Elke Nebel
1975 Kleve
Elke Nebel studied with Jörg Immendorff at the "Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf" from 1997 to 2002. In the year 2004 she received the "Förderpreis für bildende Kunst" of the city of Düsseldorf, held a lectureship at the "Staatliche Kunstakademie Düsseldorf" from 2009 to 2011 and completed a visiting professorship at the "Kunstakademie Münster" in 2012.
Red is her favorite color.
Why she uses the color red in particular?
"Because red is so incredibly luminous". Elke Nebel
Her paintings are spontaneous: "I work without templates and see what happens on the paper." Previously, abstract space paintings were her favorite, meant to express the infinity of the star-studded universe.
When she studied with Professor Jörg Immendorff, she learned from him that in art you always have to keep your eye on the ball: "He was a great mentor to all of us." Elke Nebel
What is impressive about all of Elke Nebel's minimalist drawings is that they leave the viewer with many possibilities for interpretation.
