FORGE DE LAGUIOLE | A French Tradition

Wilmotte Corkscrew

2004

The Wilmotte corkscrew made of fluorescent acrylic glass, color ice blue, is the most creative product in the Laguiole line.

The corkscrew owes its name to designer Jean-Michel Wilmotte, who has succeeded in creating a unique product with modern lines without compromising on the technical excellence of Laguiole corkscrews.

Designed in 2004 | Sold out & impossible to find.

Jean-Michel Wilmotte | The architect of dimension.

Having obtained his interior architect diploma at the Camondo School, Jean-Michel Wilmotte founded the Wilmotte & Associés agency in 1975 based in Paris. Success came quickly; indeed, he was asked by François Mittérand the President of the Republic, to undertake a partial conversion of the private Elysée apartments. This incredible opportunity brought about new ventures: some time after, he was charged with the task of internal decoration of Nîmes town hall, then the Museum of the “Beaux-Arts”. In 1993, Jean-Michel Wilmotte obtained an architectural diploma which allowed him to work both small and large-scale. Inspired by the concept “of cities interior architecture”, he operated in five fields: architecture, interior architecture, “museographie”, town planning and design. Among his creations, we remember the design of the cultural centre of Bunkamura in Japan in 1989, the restructuring of the “Palais des Congrès” in Bordeaux in 2003, the interiors for the new LVMH corporate headquarters in 2004.

The same year, Jean-Michel Wilmotte designed one of the biggest successes for FORGE DE LAGUIOLE: an explosive multicolour knife
range with acrylic glass handles.

More recently, he transformed the Mandarin Oriental in Paris to luxury status. Today, the Wilmotte & Associés agency enjoys international status and operates in more than twenty countries. In 2010 they became one of the top 100 architectural firms worldwide.
