HARVEL | by TIFFANY & CO. - double signed

Multicolor Cream Dial

Chronograph

1950s

For your collection of incredibly unique Chronograph vintage watches, there is this double signed HARVEL | by TIFFANY & CO. Chronograph from the 1950s.

Have you been looking for a double-signed vintage collector's watch that is not only rare but almost unique? Here is your chance to get a truly outstanding Chronograph from HARVEL, New York manufactured with a double-signed 100% original dial - retailed by TIFFANY & CO.

Outstanding collector's watch with blued hands, including the counters. The multicolored dial with beautiful patina and the rounded bezel makes the watch appear significantly larger than it actually is – a masterpiece in excellent technical condition. Very striking, eye-catching & distinctive due to the combination of the multicolored dial, rounded bezel & the "Olive"-Chronograph pushers.

* Olive-Pushers are variants of rectangular chronograph pushers, but slightly more elliptical. In fact, the geometry of these pushers, similar to the shape of an olive, gave it its name. Their peculiarity, and increased rarity, hold them in higher market value.

    HARVEL, New York
The Watch That Times The Stars.

Registered in 1933, located in Manhattan, New York City, founded by Henry Holland Harteveldt & his wife Lucille.

Henry H. Harteveldt worked in the New York jewelry business and founded HARVEL on New York's 5th Avenue, later moving the company to the nearby Rockefeller Center, New York. All of his watch movements bear the HARVEL WATCH Co. signature. In advertisements, Harvel promoted its watches with prominent ambassadors, Hollywood celebrities and other leading stars of the stage, screen & radio of the time. Including celebrities such as Guy Lombardo*, Sammy Kaye, and Hildegarde. With these glamorous ambassadors, Harvel confidently advertised for a long time with the slogan: “HARVEL - The Watch That Times The Stars.”

*Guy Lombardo >> Just to put this spirit of the times, this enthusiasm, and the magnitude we're talking about into perspective: Gaetano Alberto “Guy” Lombardo founded his own big band, The Royal Canadians, in 1924 together with his three brothers Carmen, Lebet, and Victor and other musicians from his hometown of London, Ontario. From 1929 to 1959, the orchestra played at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, and from 1959 to 1976 at the Waldorf Astoria. The Lombardo brothers recorded more than 300 million records (!) during their career. Guy Lombardo was furthermore a hydroplane racer. Incredible.

The Harvel company also sponsored the radio show “John B. Kennedy and the News for Harvel” for a time and in the early 1940s was the sponsor and official timekeeper of contest "Miss America".

An advertisement from 1946 (seen in the second last picture) shows that Harvel also focused on women's watches and offered a wide selection of models with an equally wide price range, from practically affordable to incredibly luxurious: This advertisement lists a Harvel ladies' watch made of solid platinum with 220 round and baguette-shaped diamonds for an incredible $5,500 – equivalent to $70,000 today.

Mind you, $5,000 in the 1940s for a ladies' watch – but not just any ladies' watch, it was an exquisite piece of jewelry from HARVEL, New York.

The HARVEL “Date-o-Graph” (seen in the last picture) became famous in the 1950s.
