Maximilian "Max" Giermann
1975 Freiburg
Max Giermann was born in Freiburg, Germany, the son of art educators Peter Ulrich Giermann and Gisela Giermann. His paternal family came from Greifswald. In 1953, his grandparents left the GDR with their children for political reasons and moved first to West Berlin, later to Hamburg and Stade, and finally to Bad Homburg in 1959. After graduating from high school in 1995 at the Berthold-Gymnasium in Freiburg and doing community service at the Arbeiterwohlfahrt, Giermann was offered a place to study media arts at the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe. From 1997 he attended the Hochschule für Schauspielkunst "Ernst Busch" Berlin, where he graduated in 2001. During this time Georgo Peugot trained him as a clown. He performed with Peugot under the stage name Max Million until Peugot's death, after which Jack Millet became his partner. After Peugot's death, Giermann took over his clown group Comedy Kids and led it until the end of 2008. While still a student, he performed in Berlin theater shows, for example at the Maxim Gorki and Carrousel theaters. After his studies, Max Giermann had several engagements at German-speaking theaters such as Schauspiel Essen, Theater Bonn, Theater der Stadt Aalen and Volkstheater Wien. Today, he occasionally directs theater productions.
Giermann is best known for his talent for parodying other people. His best-known parodies include Stefan Raab, Johann Lafer, Kai Pflaume, Hugo Egon Balder, Karl Lagerfeld, Reinhold Beckmann, Oliver Kahn, Uli Hoeneß, Robert Habeck, Sigmar Gabriel, Karl Dall and Klaus Kinski.
Max's first book is no ordinary book. It shows Max from a completely new side, namely as a draftsman, cartoonist and llustrator.
