ROLEX | Oyster

Red 24-Hour

Ref. 3136

1940s

For your collection of incredibly well-preserved Rolex vintage watches, there is this reference 3136 | Rolex Oyster early sportwatch in exeptional 100% original collectors condition.

This reference was produced in the 1930s & 1940s by both Rolex and R.W.C. LTD (Rolex Watch Company) and was distributed and marketed worldwide under various model names, the most famous being: Raleigh, Lipton, Commander, Aqua or Junior Sport. The example shown here is the Rolex main line & master brand “Rolex Oyster” & the state of preservation can be described as almost absolutely “unique".

Charming is the original Rolex “Patented Brevet Crown”, which protrudes from the thick, medium-sized case and is very comfortable to operate. The offwhite dial has an external minute track and an internal red 24-hour notation within the luminous Arabic numerals. The pencil hands have an irresistible blue steel color and a beige patinated texture.

>> Is that true? Yes, this example of a Rolex Oyster from the 1940s is 100% originally preserved & fully authentic. Really? Yes, incredible condition, isn't it!

This special watch was obviously a present from special people to a special person on February 2nd of 1940 - at least that is how the inscription on the back cover can be interpreted, which is addressed to a scout from St. Matthews in New Zealand: "TO A GOOD SCOUT FROM YOUR SCOUTING FRIENS | ST. MATTHEWS 26th TROOP | 2-2-40”

>> St. Matthews, Scouting, New Zealand - describes itself as follows: “FOR ALL YOUNG PEOPLE | We welcome young people between the ages of 5 to 26 and are open to all genders, ethnicities and religions. We are the world’s largest non-formal education institution, serving over 13,000 young people all across New Zealand. We are all about Positive Youth Development! Our purpose is to empower young people through adventurous experiences to lead lives that make a positive difference. Every year we help 13,000 young people in New Zealand enjoy new adventures, experience the outdoors, make new connections, and gain confidence. We give young people the opportunity to reach their full potential."
